I communicated with a member of the Roanoke City Parks & Recreation office to learn more about green spaces and park accessibility in the City, where they provided this link to learn more about the topic. 64% of Roanoke residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park (the 10-minute walk metric is approximately a half-mile for an able-bodied person)! The City has 68 parks totaling 1,374 acres. Similar to the other exhibits featured, some neighborhoods and areas lack green space access within the 10-minute walk metric, but these are flagged on the website as priorities for new parks.
